We listen, act, and transform
Having difficulties in life is something that we will all face and asking for help can be incredibly difficult. As a counselor I work to provide a judgement free comfortable environment to my clients in hopes that we can work together to address and overcome their difficulties and concerns.
Due to my background working within the specialties of both mental health and substance use with children, adolescents, families, and adults I offer a very diverse education base and wealth of experience which allows me to aid clients in facing a wide range of concerns.
As a younger person I see my age working to help open the door and allow younger people the comfort of knowing that I can relate and understand their difficulties. This in turn allows me to address concerns of both parents and children in an emphatic and encouraging way to promote change and growth.
My journey in higher education began and ended at Western Michigan University. During my time there I received my Bachelors of Science in Psychology with an emphasis in behavioral analysis and my Master of Arts in clinical mental health counseling and a Masters certificate in Substance Abuse Education. While working to complete my bachelors degree I completed minors in substance abuse education and social psychology. And during my masters education I placed focus on family therapy and substance use and abuse counseling.
As a clinician I am driven to educate myself in many diverse clinical approached to ensure that I can help my clients as much as possible. Each year or two I like to educate myself through trainings or certification on new and existing approaches within the helping professions. In doing so it is my hope that we can work together as a team to aid in reaching treatment goals.
